Today I started the Couch to 5k program with my husband as my coach/cheerleader. I've wanted to get into running for awhile now, but I've made excuse after excuse. Honestly, I've never been a runner. I LOVE walking! Always have...but cardio wise it's just not enough anymore. Since so many of my friends seem to recommend this program, I finally decided to get my butt off the couch and get to work.
I'm going to be starting a log along with the run to keep me accountable. Along with this log I have set some goals for this month.
Goals:
- Workout at least 6x a week.
- Drink 9 glasses of water a day.
- Journal/post at least 3 times a week (track the program).
Bonus Goal: I love the Tone It Up! girls! They have super fun workout videos! So my bonus goal is to purchase their newly released Beach Babe DVD.
Day 1:
A brisk 5 minute warm-up walk followed by 20 minutes run/walk intervals. The intervals consist of alternating 60 seconds of running with 90 seconds of walking.
I did it. Not too bad, but man I felt out of shape. Haha
I'm excited to continue the program. My plan is to do the program on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays will be a walk and/or a work out video. Saturdays I usually take a hike with a friend of mine on one of our local trails.
